Where the heart is...

My amazing Mother-in-law asked if the kids could go visit with her for a few days. Ben and Brianna have been in Roosevelt since last Sunday. They will be home tomorrow night and I'm so excited to see them again!

I just wanted to show some pictures of what my house looks like when the kids are gone. My house is NEVER this clean and organized.
The kids bathroom: no toothpaste on the counter!

Kitchen: The sink is actually EMPTY!!!

Dining room: Pretty much what it always looks like. I just wanted to show-off the roses my husband gave me!

Again, this is what it usually looks like. I LOVE the tiny condiment bottles!

Living room: no toys on the floor. No books on the couches.

Bookshelf all straightened and organized.

Brianna's room.

SOCIALISM
You have 2 cows.
You give one to your neighbour

COMMUNISM
You have 2 cows.
The State takes both and gives you some milk

FASCISM
You have 2 cows.
The State takes both and sells you some milk

NAZISM
You have 2 cows.

The State takes both and shoots you

BUREAUCRATISM
You have 2 cows.
The State takes both, shoots one, milks the other, and then
throws the milk away

TRADITIONAL CAPITALISM
You have two cows.
You sell one and buy a bull.
Your herd multiplies, and the economy
grows.
You sell them and retire on the income

ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND (VENTURE) CAPITALISM
You have two cows.
You sell three of them to your publicly listed company, using letters of credit opened by
your brother-in-law at the bank, then execute a debt/equity swap with an associated general offer so that you get all four cows back, with a tax exemption
for five cows.
The milk rights of the six cows are transferred via an intermediary to a Cayman Island Company secretly owned by the majority shareholder who sells the rights to all seven cows back to your listed company.
The annual report says the company owns eight cows, with an option on one more. You sell one cow to buy a new president of the United States , leaving you with nine cows. No balance sheet provided with the release.
The public then buys your bull.

SURREALISM
You have two giraffes.
The government requires you to take harmonica lessons.

AN AMERICAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You sell one, and force the other to
produce the milk of four cows.
Later, you hire a consultant to analyse why
the cow has dropped dead.

A GREEK CORPORATION

You have two cows. You borrow lots of euros to build barns, milking sheds, hay stores, feed sheds,
dairies, cold stores, abattoir, cheese unit and packing sheds.
You still only have two cows.

A FRENCH CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You go on strike, organise a riot, and block the roads, because you want three
cows.

A JAPANESE CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You redesign them so they are one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and produce
twenty times the milk.
You then create a clever cow cartoon image called a Cowkimona and
market it worldwide.

AN ITALIAN CORPORATION
You have two cows,
but you don't know where they are.
You decide to have lunch.

A SWISS CORPORATION
You have 5000 cows. None of them belong to you.
You charge the owners for storing them.

A CHINESE CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You have 300 people milking them.
You claim that you have full employment, and high bovine productivity.

You arrest the newsman who reported the real situation.

AN INDIAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You worship them.

A BRITISH CORPORATION
You have two cows.
Both are mad.

AN IRAQI CORPORATION
Everyone thinks you have lots of cows.
You tell them that you have none.
No-one believes you, so they bomb the ** out of you and invade your country.
You still have no cows, but at least you are now a Democracy.

AN AUSTRALIAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
Business seems pretty good.
You close the office and go for a few beers to celebrate.

A NEW ZEALAND CORPORATION
You have two cows.
The one on the left looks very attractive...

Funny Girl

Yesterday we went to Walmart. Some guy came up to use in the parking-lot and asked for 75 cents. I told him that I didn't have any change and he walked away. Brianna looked at me and said, "What da heck?!? Him want money?"

I bought some bottles of hand sanitizer to have at work. as I opened the package and pulled out the little bottles Brianna said, "What? Oils? Grandma Carla gived you a present?"

Brianna asked if she could go outside. I told her she needed to have shoes on. A minute later she came upstairs with a sandal on one foot and a princess dress-up shoe on the other. She said, "Mom, see my pretty shoes? Now my go outside, lub you mom."

Everyday when I pick her up from her babysitter she says, "I missed you mom."

When we go to pick up Ben she says, "Where is that boy? We need get him. I going give him a hug."

When we drive past the Temple she gets excited and says, "Mom, mom, look the Temple. My going get married there."

Life...

Going from "Full-Time-Mom" to "Working-Mom" is not like going from full-time to part-time. You still are a full-time mom, you just add in the working part. I worry about and miss my kids every second that I'm gone.

Someone told me once that becoming a mother is like having a part of you ripped off. It's like you always have this feeling that some part of you is no longer part of you...like you can no longer control that part of you.

After my first day of actually working, I feel very overwhelmed and under-qualified.

Yesterday I worked at a facility for women who have alcohol and drug addictions. The program is called F.I.R.S.T. (Families In Rehab Staying Together). It was a HUGE culture-shock. All those women talking about DUI's, Parol Officers, and fighting to keep, or get back, their kids.

Somehow, putting names and faces to this situation makes me realize how judgmental I have been. I found myself looking at a beautiful baby boy with red hair and freckles who obviously is suffering from Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. My first thought was, why? Why does she get to have a baby and I don't?

As I talked with the baby's mother and discussed several things she has been through and how having this baby made her realize she needed help. She has been clean and sober since she found out she was pregnant.

She asked me several questions about reflux, diaper rash, and teething. I answered all her questions and as I became overwhelmed with the spirit I discovered the answer to my question. If Nathan hadn't died, I wouldn't have been looking for a job. I wouldn't have been at that facility talking to that client at that time. I also, probably, wouldn't have felt drawn to that baby boy. I wouldn't have sat next to that mom and started a conversation about red-headed babies.

I am so glad that God is in control, and that he knows what he's doing and, most of all, that he doesn't always take my advice.

New Job

I just completed three FULL days of Orientation/Training for my new job. I spent all three days missing my kids SO MUCH!

On the first day, I had to fill-out and sign more paperwork than when we closed on our house. I had to pass a background check and have a TB test. I got a badge with my name, picture, and employee number on it. Finally I go onto a computer and set-up everything I will need including, but not limited to, the 3 different passwords and names I have to use each time I log-on to the portal.

The second day involved going over how to handle various situations like what to do when you suspect abuse. We went over, in great detail, why it's not okay to have inappropriate relationships with patients. We are also not allowed to yell-at, hit, or restrain any patients.

Today I learned about ALL the policies and procedures. Everything that could possibly happen and exactly how to document and report it. I learned what to do if someone pulls a weapon on me. What to do if a patient kills, or threatens to kill, someone...or themselves. I learned about handling and distributing medications and helping clients reach their goals.

The crazy thing is, after ALL this, I'm still excited. I am so ready to help these people. I know that this is were God wants me to be. He led me to my decision to major in Psychology. He helped me pass all my classes. And, most of all, My Heavenly Father has blessed me with a great love and understanding for people with mental disorders. I believe that these people are also children of God and that he loves and cares for each and everyone of them.
