I was just looking at an email I got from "Your Pregnancy this week." It said that at 30 weeks your baby weighs about 4 pounds and is about 17 inches long. This is the size Benjamin was when he was born. I don't understand this because he was born at 36 weeks. Does this mean that the baby doesn't grow much in the next 6 weeks, or that Benjamin was just small...or maybe the email is wrong? It does however explain why I feel like my body has never been stretched this big.
Since the last time we went to the hospital, a couple weeks ago, the contractions have gotten stronger but further apart. I was having little ones every 10-15 minutes, now I have big long, kinda painful, ones every 2-3 hours. I asked my Dr about it and he said as long as they go away when you lay down or take a bath, they are still nothing to worry about. The baby has dropped making walking a bit uncomfortable however this has greatly improved my heartburn situation. She is much more active than I remember Benjamin being. I can lay here and watch my stomach dance around. I remember being really hot at this point in my pregnancy with Benjamin. I have not had this problem so far, however this may be because it isn't as warm this year as it was when he was born. Also, I was in New Mexico for my sisters baptism at this point in his pregnancy.
At this point in my pregnancy with Benjamin, we were looking at apartments and getting ready to move. I was also still working on his crib set. This time, we already have a place to live and because I purchased a crib set, her room is all ready. Also at this point with Benjamin, we had just been told that he would have to be born in Salt Lake and we were to see a Dr down there. I won't put her name on here but she was, by far, the worst Dr I have ever experienced. I was so worried and stressed that I was going to have to be stuck with her. This time, I know that we will have my Dr who I Really like and trust. I know which hospital we will be going to. I am much more relaxed about the whole thing. It is just crazy to me how different everything is this time. I think about Benjamin as a baby and wonder how this baby will be different...
Ben was small for being 36 weeks. Most babies are 5-6 lbs. By 36 wks. Good luck with the last stretch!
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's kinda what I figured. Because of his heart condition, he was small for a LONG time. In fact, his 3-year well baby visit he was in the 50 percentile for the first time ever. He finally caught up!
ReplyDeleteShe's going to be a dancer just like her mom. Practicing already.
ReplyDeleteso glad that there are so many changes from the first prego. She's already dropped!? Wow. I heard that in second pregnancies, they don't drop until like the day before! Glad the heart burn is better.
ReplyDeleteActually my Dr said it is very common to have the baby carry low/drop early in your second pregnancy. I'm not sure if this would also be true of subsequent pregnancies as well...he just said second pregnancies.
