8 Years...

Eight years ago today, my sister Margaret and I were baptized as members of the LDS church.
I have been trying to remember specific things that happened that day. I can't remember the things that were said by the speakers. I do remember our beautiful Bishop Hansen and the things he said to us. He asked us to stand and turn around. He wanted us to see how many people had come to support us that day. There were a lot of people there, they were all smiling. Then Bishop Hansen told us that each of these people were our brothers and sisters. I felt so loved.

Soon it was time for us to head to the Baptismal font. I remember Margaret grabbed my hand; we went together. I stepped down into the water first. A very dear friend of mine baptized me. As he said the words of the ordinance, I was overcome with the spirit (so overcome, in fact, that I forgot to plug my nose). As I came up out of the water, I looked around at all those smiling faces, my friends, my family.

I think of all the things I have gone through since that day, the good, the bad, and the amazing...I will forever be grateful to my sister Margaret, my brother Ben, the missionaries who taught me, Bishop Hansen, and my 19th ward family.
