United Parsel Services.

Yesterday I was supposed to get the IV supplies that I will be needing for the week (they come once a week). When the UPS guy came, I was in the bathroom and didn't hear the knock. So he decided to have a neighbor (who I have never met) sign for my package. He left a note on my door to let me know that they had delivered my stuff to my neighbor. I only have enough stuff to get through today and then we are in trouble. Also, there are some things in my delivery that need to be refrigerated. This neighbor was not home five-minutes later when I went to get it. What's more, they haven't been home at all since then.

So I called the company that was sending my supplies and explained the situation. They told me that they can't send anymore because the insurance was billed after the package was signed for by my (MIA) neighbor. I then called the UPS number that is on the note the delivery guy left. They told me that the tracking number he put on the note is for a completely different delivery and they can't help me unless I have the correct number. When I asked if they could do something to make sure this doesn't happen again, I was told that I should just post a note on my door saying that I don't want them to do this. Wouldn't that be great, I should put a note on my door saying, "Please don't give my stuff to my neighbors. Thanks!"

Is this normal? Does UPS usually give your packages to complete strangers? It just doesn't seem right and I'm really not sure what to do about this.

  1. I have never heard of UPS doing that before. That is pretty crazy if you ask me.... I hope your MIA neighbor return... and UPS needs to knock louder.. wait listen and knock again.. maybe even "say loudly" that UPS is here..

  2. We have a doorbell! I don't know why he was knocking anyway!
